So i recently got this trolling combo for free from a friend but dont know much about it. Obviously it doesnt cast but im wondering if i could take the reel off and put it on a bait casting rod for catfish/surf fishing. I have never had a bait caster like this before so I am pretty confused. The reel also doesnt have the model on it so does anyone know what model penn it is? Thank you!

A lot of these round reels aren’t “baitcasters” in the sense that they aren’t designed to cast. They don’t have brakes, and are mostly designed to troll or bottom jig
