tl;dr is the Ardent Apex Grand baitcaster reel, plus an enigma medium heavy, one piece, 7’2” rod worth $150 (CAD) as a first time baitcaster? Or am I better off buying something else?
I’ve been wanting to try a bait caster for a while, but I also don’t want to spend a fortune on it if I don’t end up enjoying it. I’ve also read that the cheap ones are far from worth it and I’ll end up not enjoying the experience or it will break and I end up having to buy a better reel anyway. So I’ve been searching used markets for a rod and reel, and every time I see a rod / reel combo, it is either way too expensive to experiment or a cheap branded one that I’ve heard breaks too quickly. So I’m curious of people’s opinions on the set described above? Is this worth it for $150, or should I keep looking?
