I was overhead casting this little guy with no weights in the line or anything. I only had braid because a local out here told me I don’t need a leader. Nearly brand new (couple years old but hadn’t fished much due to college) carbon fiber rod snaps in my face. Should I try to get a refund or a replacement rod from the company? I doubt I have a receipt. What do I do?

sounds like it got damaged while sitting in storage. someone must have stepped on it or something

let’s see a picture of the break

No it shouldn’t of snapped mid cast especially on a 1oz rated rod throwing that lure. You could see if they would honour a replacement. I’m not sure if they will. It most likely has prior damage in the blank if it snapped like that.

  3. That’s one of the strongest parts of the rod. No way it was your cast that broke it.

  4. Nope. There was likely a nick or some other damage. Graphite is tough, but it doesn’t take much to break it once compromised
