I’m very new to fishing. I’ve caught a few fish before in my life, but my knowledge is probably equal to that of a 10 year old. I’m currently trying to learn about different types of rigs, lures, methods/techniques and have been out about 5 times with 2 others in the last month on my boat but have only had like 2 bites, only one on the hook and I lost it while trying to adjust my drag. Only bites have been with a drop shot and worm. Nothing on a spoon, spinner bait, crank bait, or top water bait. Usually just cast and reel with various speeds except with drop shot. Havent tried Texas, Carolina or wacky rig yet. Lakes are canyon and saguaro in Arizona, so mostly bass, catfish trout and a couple others. I have a fish finder, have watched several basic videos on how to use sonar so I’m pretty sure there’s fish around. It can be very confusing for me still as it looks like there’s huge schools of fish basically everywhere but I don’t ever get any bites. Additionally, Ive only fished in the late afternoon and am back around nightfall. I’m new to boating as well. Is it the location, bait, time of day, or something else that I’m doing incorrectly? Or is that just how fishing works and I don’t know what I got myself into.
