Was fishing my favorite spot, catching smallmouth after smallmouth right before a big rain storm. All of a sudden my 4lb test goes right and I assume a snag as I was fishing a woody area. As I approach drag spins and the fish gets me tangled in the wood. As I’m netting it my net is struck by an angry snapping turtle who was hunting the log pile. Michigan has a serious lamprey problem as you can see lamprey scars all over this fish. Lake effect lures…all I’m saying.

Please learn to handle fish properly. It’s unacceptable and unnecessary to lift it out of the water three times.Your fish should swim away after a proper release not lay on the bottom trying to recover.
