I've been targeting crappie/pan fish in this drainage canal without luck, using a 1/32 jig head with a black/chartreuse baby shad.

Rod is a micro series 4'6 ultra light, sienna 1000, 6lb mono.

Also tried a white/chartreuse flex grub. No luck.

I know there is fish in here because I keep seeing them come topwater.

That looks like a california irrigation ditch. Keep on with what you’re doing, or switch to catfish!

I’d throw a jitterbug😂mostly because that’s what I always throw. I just love fishing with top water. I’d bet there’s largemouth in there

Worm under a bobber and my butt on the ground soaking up sunshine and the beauty of the place.

Have you ever seen a bass up around the edges?? Throw a cast net and see what everything is eating. Maybe a craw bait or wacky senko.
