A friend got the Shakespeare for learning fishing and i was surprised by the lack of quality. Daiwa D shick combo in the image is my standby rod that has caught a decent amount of fish and the reel is built like a tank. It is just $25 at the local fishing retailer. I'm surprised why anyone would choose to get a non-daiwa/shimano even at this price point. The Shakesepeare rod and reel is so flimsy that I am afraid it'll break while transporting.
