First fish on my new rod setup. Ugly Stil GX2 with a Piscifun Flame 3000 reel, macho minnow lure, no worm, no bait, no weights. I just started fishing again these last 2 months after not fishing for nearly 15 years.
I've been waiting a while to pull a big fish out of this spot. I've had some decent catches, especially with smallmouth bass, but nothing has come close to the fight this one put up. I thought I caught a log or heavy weeds, but when I pulled it up to the surface and it broke the water it fought hard for a good few minutes.
I have a kitchen I work at nearby so I did keep this one, brain spiked it quickly, then filleted it on a log in the water and gave the rest to the birds. It was delicious, I've never had bass but I'm a fan. Me and the kitchen crew ate it not even 2 hours after it was killed, fresh af.

Pretty nice bass. Glad that thing tasted good! And gotta love the ugky stiks. They may be inexpensive but they dont lack in quality. They are some sturdy ass rods. Congrats on the catch.
