I’m looking to experiment with different lines now that ky Walmart got a remodel and facelift. I’m currently using Trilene Big game Fluro on most rigs I own just with different tests and I love it. BUT my Walmart got new lines in like Seaguar basix some strike king brands and yo zuri and pline. But then I usually use big game mono on one of my medium rigs. I’m already getting 2 new combos for trying out braids one for UL & one M/MH so if you want to recommend braid you can but I’m mainly looking for the best 8-12pb fluro suggestions.
BUT I’ve never had a medium light rod before just UL or M so the capacity is 4-10lb mono, it’s the widest range I have for a combo, so what Fluro carbon line would you suggest to put on it? Seaguar, Yozuri, Trilene etc. or should this be the set up I try braid on since I’ve never used braid. I haven’t really used any Lews products before so again no idea how the rod or reels feel or are. I have this combo, I have the Lews Speed Stick spinning Combo, And then an ugly stick GX2 with a Lews Mach Smash on it. I haven’t had a chance to use those rigs yet because they are all my medium rigs and I haven’t been able to make a trip to the dam or to the lake where my medium stuff needs to be used they are spooled and ready to go I just haven’t had a chance to use them. So They are still brand new just sitting in my shed in the rod organizer.
Now this particular combo I just bought, the Lews Xfinity XJ will probably be the Lews combo I use the most as I am an UL guy and stay locally knowing I won’t catch anything over 5lbs by me atleast I don’t think I haven’t yet and it has been three years. But as the bigger places that require my mediums are 30+ minutes away minimum one way I just haven’t had the time. Anyway I love 6/8lb test limits for UL and 12-20 on my M. BUT again I’m trying out new things so this ML is gonna be a new experience for me all around. I would love to hear your thoughts on it. Good and bad things if you own it or have or what you spooled this combo with yourself? 🤙🏼
