A snap swivel. You can put them on the end of your fishing line and they let you hot-swap your lures. Some people don’t like them because fish might be able to see them, and it breaks their suspension of disbelief.

  2. It’s a snap swivel. You tie the round end to your line and then you can swap lures on the other end. The idea is you can easily open and close the oblong end and swap liters without having to tie a new knot every time.

I wouldn’t recommend using unless using specific lures where the swivel is advantageous due to line twist issues.

It’s called a snap swivel. It lets you switch lures without cutting and retying every time. It also keeps your line from twisting if your lure spins. Lots of people don’t use them, preferring to cut and retie each time they switch lures. I personally don’t use them very often.

You can also get just the snap portion in various sizes and styles. I prefer a snap without the swivel for crankbaits. For jigs it is best to tie directly.
