Is this ok for bass? I was gonna peg the bullet weight to make it stay in place, or should I just remove it?

  1. Bullet weights on hard plastic baits are generally iffy. They mess with lure action. If you want to throw further look into changing the line to braid or buy heavier and more streamlined lures that will cast further

  2. Bullet weight is backwards, smooth side should be up flat side down so it glides through weeds and doesn’t get caught on them. Also, not sure if you need those weights on there when using a hard bait. I usually see people using those with live bait/soft bait. Also I think that the braided line will work for bass but it’s more so for fish with sharper teeth/more strength so the line won’t snap or cut easy

  3. Ditch that weight on there for sure. Pretty much every hard plastic lure shouldn’t have any extra weight added unless it specifically tells you to. Getting rid of the snap swivel would also be a good idea as it’s gonna hurt the action a little bit on that Rapala but I’m not gonna say you have to there’s a lot of people that fish with swivels on their lures but it’s not the ideal setup, I’d definitely recommend tying a monofilament or fluorocarbon leader to that braid though since fish can see the braid very easily and could spook em off.
