I've been doing some research for a while, trying to find a good rod that I can carry when I go hiking. I'm looking for a good multi species rod, mostly something for panfish but can handle bass as well. Trying to build a budget setup so my budget for the rod is under $50 and preferably under 4'6" so I can fit under my seats on my truck.

I don't even know if there is any rods that are under 4'6" that aren't ice fishing rods(3ft)

Aiming for a ultralight or a light action, is medium light action good for panfish as well?

I found this one that caught my attention that I'm thinking of getting, but I'm not sure how i feel about medium light for panfish and light lures.

Medium light is really versatile and will work for bass and panfish. If solely targeting panfish, medium light would not be my first choice as it’s a little on the heavy side for those small fish, but if you’re looking for a versatile rod it is a good option.

For panfish specifically I’d opt for a light or ultralight rod. These rods will handle bass as well, you just have to play them right and let the drag do it’s job.
