I ma from the uk and generally target carp on longer rods but I have recently purchased a baitcaster to go pike fishing and I am now looking at casting rods. I have seen this berkley rod that is very cheap which is perfect for a beginner like me. But i generally thought lure rods were 5-7ft and these are much longer. Any idea if these will still be fine?

Long rods are generally used when beach fishing.
The longer length allows you to cast further and get out over the breaks and into less turbulent water that fish congregate in
Long rods like 10’+ are used for surf fishing. I use 12’ rods when I fish in the surf.
