When do y’all change your line out? I usually make it to about 4/5ths to 2/3rds a spool left of line and swap it out jigging. Consistently fishing the same applications multiple times in a row. Fishing all down a rough river, A lot of snags and changing out baits due to water levels changing rapidly. Don’t use swivels even tho I’ve got 500 lol go through a good bit of line fishing this way. (Targeting Bigs; Contrary To The 2500 in the pic shown)
Hell, A few millimeters down and I feel like it doesn’t cast the same mile away 😤😅
I know it’s wasteful, and have been told not to put more than ~300yrd/ms. However, Ive got reels that hold 400m of 30ish and I’ve had a striper run 100 yards out before. Wondering when you avid anglers change your line out.

Also, what braids have you had the best luck with? I need a good abrasion resistant braid that isn’t too heavy in the wind and faster currents for lighter baits, but still has the strength to withstand a great double digit fish. Could slap a proper amount of 40lb on the reel but I lose a lot of the finesse with lighter style tackle or rigs meant to be weightless.

Bigger baits, bigger fish, but a big fish with still eat a fly 😉

P.S.A. -If you tape your line to the spool don’t even bother commenting, this post is not meant for your expertise. 👍
