First photo is him the day I brought him home about 8ish months ago. Second pic is from today. Last photo is with the light more directly over him today. Made the possible sick photo not the first one so no one had to see sick baby just scrolling and can see beautiful baby on photo one.

He is noticably less bold when he had black spots but he is also turning more red so it's hard to tell if he's just in an awkward color phase.

His fins though look not ok. He does have a lot of spider wood in his tank but idk if that kind of damage could be done by them.

He is also having a hard time eating. He still gets excited about food but his depth perception is off? He will snap at food but completely miss it. And this is new behavior. He will try to snap at food 3-5 times before he gets it in his mouth. And this is the food he has been eating since day one.

The test strip isn't the most accurate, we did a part water change yesterday just trying to vaccume up fish waste. But before that the water parameters didn't have anything alarming and we tested with the drops and not just the strips. Since it's hard to tell colors under my warm light, but the nitrate looks to be about 15-20 in person.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

  1. Also this stuff

    •Tank size: 10gal

Heater and filter? (yes/no): yes and yes

    Tank temperature: 77F

•Parameters in numbers and how you got them: How long have you had the tank? How long have you had your fish?: How often are water changes? How much do you take out per change? What is your process?: in photos for params. Got him Aug 8th, 2023. Water changes happen monthly but it’s really just cleaning up fish waste. Maybe like a third.

Any tankmates? If so, please list with how many of each: What do you feed and how much: two amano shrimp and two pygmy corydoras (had more long time ago, what’s left of the school)

Decorations and plants in the tank: If you haven’t already posted a picture, please post pics/vids to imgur and paste the link here: Java fern, Grass, Moss and a few other leafy plants I don’t remember the names off, some rock and spider wood
