I've had blaze since March, I got him with some neon tetras he had been tank mates with at the shops. He's a good boy other than his viciousness towards guppies and his glaring attitude.
No matter what I do he looks at me like in the picture. He has a lovely big tank full of plants but he doesn't seem happy. He doesn't take food from the tongs, only if they are dropped, he generally just patrols the tank and that photo is the look I got when I held up a picture of a different betta to see if he would flare, he did once yesterday then seemed to figure out it wasn't real and ignored it. He looks at me like I'm dumb whenever I try to interact. Is he just a moody fish or is he unhappy?
He gets flakes, brine shrimp, bloodworm and enjoys the occasional forbidden shrimp pellet

N the picture it looks like he’s just looking at you? When a betta doesn’t like you, they’ll flat their gills at you. It doesn’t seem like he’s doing that.

Bettas have different personalities, he just seems kind of chill. I’d describe a betta more as moody if they constantly flare at their owners. They also have different preferences about eating from tongs and such, it doesn’t mean anything. From what you describe it sounds as though he likes his tank very much, he sounds active and happy. If you want him to flare up sometimes, you could try a mirror or a video instead of a still image, it sounds like he knew better about the lack of movement.
Your guy sounds just fine! He’s just doesn’t have a super feisty disposition. Seems like he’s doing well and enjoys/tolerates your company when you come see him though (more likely he is hoping for treats lol).

LOL he just looks like that. Definitely try female bettas if you want them to be more interactive
so you got a fish that naturally looks angry and then for the bit you’ve had it have misread its body language and now think it hates you, if je didn’t like you he would flash his gills

Hey! It seems that ur new to having a Betta so let me help 🙂
1. A common misconsiption is that you own the Betta fish. Well, no. The Betta Fish owns u, and he knows it.
2. As our Lord and Master, we must bow to the Bettas.
Bowing to him should solve the issue.
3) If the issue remains, try feeding him more snacks.
4) if the issue somehow persists, then he just likes to remind u of our place.
