I was out there from around 9-3pm on the Columbia River using the lure in picture one, i was mostly casting out in picture two by the docks. I know the Columbia River isn't known for bass and obviously im not going to catch something every time but id like to narrow down if im doing something wrong or if i was just unlucky (or both).

Any advice would be much appreciated i fished a bit as a kid but this is really one of my first times as an adult and i want to learn all i can.

Could just be the lure selection or the area is more unproductive than you think. Could you see small bait fish around the docks? If you’re looking for the wolf (bass) you need to find his food. Perhaps you could try a finesse technique like a dropshot or a small soft plastic Swimbait or a Senko. Those 3 baits get bit in the toughest conditions and will generally tell you if other fish are in the area because panfish will generally also chase these lures.
