I know bettas can jump sometimes but I thought it was only if the water conditions were bad. I've never seen him jump but I was kind of wondering if it would be fine to leave the tank without a lid? The light, filter, and heater make it difficult to even put a lid on it. Anyone know if he'd jump out and if it's fine without one?

If you’re going to stay lidless I recommend putting your heater horizontal more towards bottom of your tank below filter. It appears you already some of the heater exposed above the water line. You could hide the heater entirely behind your plants so only cord is exposed. There are reports of heaters exploding with too much of them above the water line. Top off with ro or distilled water so minerals don’t keep accumulating and cause your tds to get too high.
