🇨🇦 17lb 8oz common. Been at it for weeks now, haunting my local pond. Got him on a hair rig with corn and my homemade pack bait.

They don’t like pop-ups here, but it’s a real soft weedy bottom. Any tips on making my hair rig semi-buoyant so it still sinks but hopefully doesn’t get buried in the weeds?

  1. Nice fish man. You should invest in a cradle or unhooking mat so that the fish doesn’t need to lay in the mud. Also get a bucket or something you can fill with water, you can use it to pour on the fish to clean away mud for better photos in addition to keeping the fish wet and ensuring better survival rate.

If they won’t eat larger pop up’s, try smaller wafters (8mm for example) or simply try some fake corn baits that float. Good luck 👍

Use your popup but shave it down to the profile of the corn or whatever you want to be semi buoyant, you can also use “zig foam” and trim that down for longer usage.
