My dad found this Abu Garcia Cardinal 302 spinning reel sitting in all his fishing stuff. I was wondering if it’s worth cleaning up and throwing on a rod or not. It seems to work okay from what I can tell so far. If so, what’s the best way to clean it?

Sure. Use a rag, brushes, pipe cleaners, etc to clean the grime off the reel. Remove the spool by twisting off the drag cap and use reel oil on the bearings on the spindle. If that gets it good working order use it.

This is a fairly low end budget reel so I wouldn’t replace bearings or put any money into it but if you can get it working smoothly with a few minutes of elbow grease it’s probably worth it.
