Was fishing off of my boat for just the second time since getting it. Struck out at first fishing the shoreline and trying a spinner. Decided to swap to a Texas rigged worm, still no luck. Started to drift aimlessly just enjoying the morning when I drifted near one of the aeration pumps in the pond. I remembered reading that fish are more active where there’s lots of oxygenated water, like near a dam spillway. Decided to take a shot and got this monster. At first I thought I managed to get stuck on some grass or sucked into the pump system. Couldn’t believe it when he broke the surface.
