I saw this pea chilling on the bank at some random exit ramp puddle in south Florida. Put a game changer in his face and he smacked it like it owed him money before the fly even had time to sink, but quickly broke my leader, taking the fly I spent two hours on with it. Heartbroken, I walked back to the car and tied a new leader and an ep minnow on. I walked back up to the spot, and he was right where I first hooked him. Flicked the ep minnow out and he did the same thing, taking a run that actually gave me a pretty modest line burn along with a few aerials. Landed him and got both of my flies back! It didn’t look like he was bedding either, seemed like he was just super hungry.
