So I recently got back into fishing and dug up some of my old poles from when I was a teenager. I'm thinking of using this for heavy fish like cats and pike but I was wondering if this is a spinning rod or a casting rod. The rod was part of a combo that had a crappy spin cast rod on it and I don't think it's in production anymore so I can't find any info on it

Looks like a casting rod to me. That first guide (closest to handle) is small, spinning rod would have a lot larger guide to make room for the line coming off the spool.
if there’s a trigger on the grip section, it’s a casting rod. no trigger, it’s a spinning rod.
