After a couple days of trying to get the hang of shore fishing, I finally caught this yellowfin croaker.

Location: Hermosa Beach, CA
Bait: Raw shrimp (frozen)
Conditions: 2-4 ft consistent waves, it was pretty choppy.
Notes: Spent about 1.5 hours battling seaweed bogging my line down. After about 4 recasts, decided to pack it up. To my surprise, there was a fish on the line! Hard to tell what is surf, seaweed or fish. I’m sure it gets easier over time. Subtle head jerks make the rod react differently than the waves.
