I am very impressed with the Evo. I’d say it is about equal to the Jackhammer. The bluegill Chatterspike looks fantastic. It is an awesome choice when bass are feeding on bluegill, sunfish, etc.

Like the JH, I only throw the 1/2oz version. I can fish it better and more efficiently in all environments- including very shallow grass (like in the pic).

When you reel the 3/8 oz fast it doesn’t look or feel right. Due to the shallow grass, I was using 17lb mono and a high-speed reel.

It’s funny that you made this post because I have the same issue, but with the 3/8 and 1/2oz jackhammers with a chatterspike. I think the buoyancy of the elaztech that spike is made out of causes the jackhammer to destabilize and “kick out” during the retrieve. It almost feels like I can’t feel the vibration of the bait and it feels like I have grass on the hook. I swapped over to a Berkley grass pig rigged upside down and the Yamato zako and have had zero issues since. I want to like the chatterspike because it will never, ever come off the jackhammers bait keeper but it fishes weird and I don’t have much confidence in it.
