My parameters are all 0. No other fish seem distressed. I see no signs of injury and I can't find anything online. My pleco lays still for a little while and then twitches and swims erratically and turns into a grayish color. Then the color returns. All in a span of 10-15 minutes. Is it neurological? Is there anything I can do for it. Thanks in advance. You can see the color change from beginning to end of video.

  1. Your parameters are probably not 0ppm for all 3, the most common contaminant in tap water is nitrates. I’d suggest a new test kit. Hanna checkers are a bit expensive but well worth it in my opinion.

Does your pleco eat allot of fresh plants from grocery stores? Zucchini, squash, etc? Most store bought “veggies” (technically fruit but eh) have pesticides unless specifically mentioned that they do not. I’ve never experienced it myself and don’t know if there’s science behind it but I’ve heard of instances where plecos that eat allot of cucurbits can have negative side effects from the pesticides, with those symptoms it could be a possibility. If that is the case, organic /or locally grown foods would be a better option.
