The text below is just my personal added context, you don’t need to read it to answer my post if you don’t want to. I just need to know where to fish!
I’m a total beginner in freshwater (Midwest US) that only caught my first bluegill three days ago on live worms at a separate, much further lake. This lake is much more convenient to reach, although I haven’t had any luck the few times I’ve been there.
I am only fishing what I can walk as I don’t have access to a boat. I have only fished the area near the parking, this is highlighted red in picture 2.
After seeing others post something similar here, I was hoping I could learn from someone with more experience about my local area. I’m hoping to catch something to try eating, like a bass or trout.
The last three photos I decided to add are my gear. Two rods donated by friends, and a nice one that I’ve treated myself to. I’m treating these like a variety of small medium large. The ultra small zebco for panfish, the medium pfleuger I splurged on I want to be a bass/trout medium fish rod, and the donated “quantum heat” rod that’s a little bulkier will be for catfish or carp. What are your opinions on this for a beginner? I honestly wont know what to do if I hook a catfish/carp lmao
And for bait I use those dough/plastic baits when I’m fishing in a hurry, but I usually grab live worms if I have time to think ahead. I’ve only recently purchased those bass jigs(?) recently to try out, so I’m unsure how those will work.
