I bought this optix 40 more than 15 years ago. worked fine for over 10 casts. Then the last cast it didn't bring line in at all, brought line in by hand. Took it apart to clean it. And found this in the picture. I'm thinking of just putting the reel the garbage.

The fact you got that long out of a sub-$20 reel is amazing, that thing deserves a viking funeral for its heroism and bravery.
