Going to give saltwater fishing a try and I picked up this double drop rig from Walmart. I’ve watched a few beginner videos on YouTube and it seems like people are against these pre-tied rigs, but they don’t really provide clear reasons. Is it because the metal would scare off line-shy fish?
I’m planning on fishing from a pier and adding some #6 gamakatsu octopus hooks baited with raw shrimp and weighed down by a 1 oz pyramid weight on the bottom. Does this sound like a reasonable setup? I’m also considering grabbing some berkley swimming mullets and maybe some 1/8 jigheads.
Absolutely have no idea how to fish saltwater so I would appreciate any tips! Thanks
