Hey guys, I was hoping y'all could recommend a nice piece of gear or something fishing related that would make any fisherman's day. I'm afraid I don't know much about this but I'd like to get my father in law something nice. He's taking me out fishing a few times now on some really expensive boating trips and I want to repay the favor and show him love. Best idea I could come up with was buying some random lures from Cabela's..

Looks like he could use some waders
Gift card bass pro,cabelas?
Unless you’re aware of a particular item that he’s mentioned wanting, I’d recommend a gift card to a tackle shop. We can be persnickety about our tackle.
Are they guided trips or his boat? Are there any species he’d like to target but hasn’t? I don’t know what your budget is but for something really nice my thoughts are:
1.)A planned trip for a bucket list species
2.) Upgraded electronics if he isn’t up to date
3.) A gift card for his favorite sporting goods store
4.) Gas money for the boat
5.) If you catch and keep, learning to fillet the fish , then taking him fishing and cleaning your catch for him.
I don’t usually appreciate people picking out gear for me, but being able to share a fishing trip while removing some of the tasks I usually shoulder when taking out newer people is something I would appreciate. If you happen to know there’s a particular lure or something he’s been wanting but hasn’t purchased that’s different, but if he’s anything like me he already has a collection spanning several decades and is fairly particular in what he wants to add to it.
Tackle is a hard one to buy for someone else. Accesories can be hit or miss too. Clothing is what I tell people to buy me when they want to buy me fishing stuff.
